Pictures for RV Day 2

Intro: Here are some pictures for the Zion National Park. Very steep cliffs, very green cliffs, very cold water for very steep, very green cliffs.

Continuation of Day 2: Well here are the pictures for Day 2. Most of the information in on the other post so I won’t talk much about them. Lets just say the Grand Canyon is almost nothing compared what we were able to see, touch, and walk on at the Zion National Park. Good Night Day 2 and Zion National Park, and Oh yeah, tomorrow we will be at the Great Salt Lakes. How exciting this is, and we’ve only just began. And one other thing, yes my fingers hurt from the only two notes I know on the guitar.

RV Advernture Day 2

Intro: Today we made it to Utah! It is very beautiful. We decided to go through the Zion Nation Park in order to go on our way. May I say it is one of the best ideas we've made so far. SCORE!! One point for Daddio. Read on for more info.

Day 2: Let me fill you in after my last post. For all you concerned readers, yes, I did manage to get my hotdogs back before they started gambling, but it was a close one though, they had the dice and everything ready to go. So we sang some songs, ate some food, then put out the fire and went to bed. Let’s just say that in the middle of the desert, in the summertime, you’d expect the nights to be nice and warm right. WRONG!!! I was freezing. FREEZING!!!! Not as in i wish i brought another blanket, as in I cannot move an inch without breaking some ice off my feet. In fact, Mom and Dad had a sheet, blanket, and a comforter!!!! They were nice and cozy all night. Jon and I had only one blanket. Jon had his winter blanket, and I had a very thin, worn out quilt!!! Talk about child abuse! And to make matters worse, Mom just HAD to forget to close ALL the windows which let in ALL the COLD air IN, and ALL the WARM air OUT!!!! In the middle of the night I finally couldn't take it any longer, I woke Jon up and we quickly closed all the windows, and huddled together under our two small blankets to keep warm. And thats where Mom and Dad found us asking, "You guys look like you just came back from Alaska, our room was nice and warm, wasn't yours too?" Well after about an hour of driving Jon and I finally thawed out enough to leave the bed to change into our frozen jeans. After about three hours of driving we entered Utah and man was it beautiful!! Let’s just say that if anyone doubted that God is here just go to Utah. In Utah we found some cool stuff, and we decided to drive through Zion Nation Park, it cost us about $40 to enter, $25 per car, and $15 for owning a over sized RV. Let’s just say that it was worth it. IT WAS WORTH MORE THAN $40!!! So don't complain if you ever get charged that much for an entrance. I will have some pictures either on this one or on a separate one. We liked Zion National Park so much that we decided to spend much of the day there. It was so beautiful. The greens, the browns, and the Shadow Squirrels, at least that is what Dad called them because they are the most dangerous animals in the park because they chew through backpacks, bags, and even your hand to get a hold of some food. The Grand Canyon was cool, but this was AMAZING!!! The water, the trees, the death dropping cliffs, and the bound to happen any second rock slides. We spent about 2 hours there when we only planned to spend 10 minutes driving through. Dad took a total of 102 pictures of the Zion Canyon. After we left we continued to drive to Utah's Salt Lakes to continue our Journey. On the way we stopped at Wal*Mart so Mom could cook dinner and Dad, Jon, and I went into the store to go shopping. Total Summery, went in with list with 15 items on it, came out with enough food to feed the entire Navy. Now I know why Mom doesn't send Dad on shopping trips very much. Lucky for us Mom used her magical powers to fit everything into the right places. When we had everything fixed up, Dad turned on the air conditioner, IT DIDN'T WORK!!! The air conditioner fuse blew. No air conditioner. Good thing we hadn't even left the Wal*Mart parking lot. :) Can you imagine our luck? Not so good actually. Wal*Mart had every fuse EXCEPT an air condition fuse. Another stroke of Good Luck, Radio Shack DID have a fuse. So now we are driving and I am getting sleepy, I am going to go to bed, night to all and enjoy the pictures that I will post on the separate post.

Pictures for RV Day 1

Intro: These are some pics that we got at the Grand Canyon.

Continuation of Day 1: Hi, sorry I'm a bit late but it took a while to learn how the blogger site works. So these are some pictures of the Grand Canyon. One of them I took, see if you can guess which one I did, after all how hard can it be to tell the difference between my dads photos and a thirteen year old amature photographer? Well from now on I will have pictures with my blogs hopefully.

RV Adventure: Day 1

Intro: Today we drove some more and made it to Marble Canyon and the Grand Canyon. On every entry I'm going to put a summery here, sorry previous readers that I didn't have this earlier but I don't think of perfection till later on, so make sure you always look back on something just in case. (I'm very random and don't always make things eaisier.)

Day 1: We woke about 7:37 am in the morning on Friday, May 29, 2009. First we had some breakfast. Joshua, Jonathan, and I had some Captain Crunch while Mom and Dan had some Lucky Charms. Dad was on a conference call so he had some Captain Crunch a bit later. Then we were on the road! As we drove we wrote in our blogs, it was really cool. We made four different blogs, Mikaela’s Blog (that’s mine), Jonathan’s Blog, Deanna’s Wondering Wonderings, and Greg’s Thoughts and Ponderings. Josh and Dan are too young to have a blog. After Jon and I did our blogs, Jon started playing some Hannah Montana soundtracks so Dad started doing some funky dance moves. Mom hasn’t wrote in her blog all day so I hope she will write her first entry tonight. Between the time of 9:20 am and 10:00 am, I dosed of for a bit and was awoken when Dad gave me my first guitar lesson. I now know the keys ‘E’minor and ‘D’. About halfway through my guitar lesson we started playing around with sounds and such. Dad also gave me some bad news, “For about three to four days your fingers will hurt like crazy.” Oh great, well I guess no pain no gain. We soon stopped at Sun Point, it was so cool. But it was nothing compared to the next stop we made, THE GRAND CANYON!!! But that comes later. In Flagstaff we found out that the camera card was bad so that put Dad in a depressing mood for a while, but that wasn’t all the bad luck we experienced today either. About an hour out of Flagstaff about 3:00pm, I thought we forgot to lock the door so I went to go check, it was locked, but as Dad went onto a curve, I lost my balance and ran butt first into the oven, my big butt shattered the glass oven door and sprayed black glass all over the floor like a waterfall. We can still use the oven though; it wasn’t all the way glass, just for decoration. But just like in the game Sims 2, being the first to break something in our new RV is a bad aspiration, (-5,000 aspiration points L). Well after that we drove for a while and I just relaxed on top of the overhang bed listening to music, I was still upset from the oven incident. Then we drove up to a rest stop that had a big bridge that went across the Marble Canyon it was the closest we were able to see the Colorado River because you can’t see it in the Grand Canyon. As usual Joshua started freaking out because he thinks that anything up high will collapse under him. When we started driving again it rained for about ten minutes then stopped when we reached the Grand Canyon area. The grand canyon was absolutely marvelous!!! Absolutely beautiful!!!! If you have ever seen the South or West side of the Grand Canyon, you haven’t really seen it, not until you see the North side at sunset. It is the most beautiful site you gave ever laid eyes on. And we were still in Arizona. It’s almost as if God said, “I’m going to put a masterpiece in the middle of the desert for those who seek through the drive sandy desert.” The only problem we had was that Jonathan was totally terrified not in dumbstruck, as in I am going to die if I go I will not survive this type of terrified. After that incident we were ok. When we left we saw about five different deer herds. Then we went to a free camp ground were we are right now. I am in the RV typing while the rest of my family is outside eating hot dogs so I am going to say good bye and go eat before they start gambling for my share of hotdogs.

RV Adventure: Night 1

INTRO: My name is Mikaela Steele, and I am thirteen years old. We’ve just got a new RV and planned a two week journey as soon as school was out. So I am writing a journal about the journey. Each day we will be somewhere new. We will always be doing something else. I cannot wait.
Night 1: First things first, I put ‘Night 1’ because we left on a Thursday night after our Community night. So that is why I put night instead of day. This entry will be different than some of the other ones as well, I am writing in the morning instead of the previous night. We started at 7:47 pm on Thursday, May 28, 2009. At first it took a while for Josh and Dan to settle down. But eventually they fell asleep. As we were driving through the Anthony gap I started falling asleep as well, so I told Jon that I was going to go to bed. But then I smelled something funny, I went to the back and smelled… smelled… GAS!! Mom went to the back to check it out, it turned out that it was the smell of exhaust, so we closed the windows. Then I went to bed hoping when I woke up it would be gone. I don’t remember the dream I dreamed because as soon as you wake up you don’t remember it very well. When I woke up it was 12:03 am. The moon was beautiful! It was a half moon that looked like a sticker that was just stuck there in the sky. Also, the gas smell was gone as well. I talked to Mom and Dad for about an hour, during that hour we found a beautiful picture. I’m going to describe it to you because we couldn’t find a camera fast enough. The night road went off into the hills but the gorgeous half moon was just above the left side of the road so it looked like you were driving into the night sky. After that we stopped at a gas station to go to the restroom. Then Jonathan, Daniel, Joshua, and I moved around some more. Daniel, Jon, and I went to the restroom. Joshua just stood up like a zombie and went to the back of the RV and collapsed. Soon after that we came to a truck stop and hooked the RV up to charge and we went to sleep.
